Ernest Lee Young - Jonesville - Funeral services for Ernest Lee Young, 83,
will be held in the First Methodist Church of Jonesville today at 3:00 p.m.
with the Revs. Jimmy Powell and J.O. McNair officiating.
Burial will be in the Jena Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral
Home of Ferriday.
Mr. Young died Tuesday in the Jefferson Davis Hospital in Natchez
following
a lengthy illness.
A retired merchant, Mr. Young was a member of Four Rivers No. 369 and a
member of the First Methodist Church of Jonesville.
Survivors include four sons, Lee Young of Ruston, Dayton Young of
Jonesville,
H.T. Young of Jonesville, and Dale Young of Monroe; three daughters
Miss
Sarah Young of Houston, Tx, Mrs. Effie Carter of Arcadia and Mrs. Myrtle
Bartness of Harrisonburg; two sisters Mrs. Laura Hotard of Ferriday and
Miss
Minnie Carraway of Vidalia; 16 grandchildren and 8
great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Peyton Cornwell, born October 21, 1888, married Annie Trunzler
Cotton May 10, 1910, died June 20, 1972 - buried Woodland Cemetery, Jena,

Funeral services for Mrs. Minnie Young Carraway, 89, of Vidalia, La.
formerly of Jonesville, were held at the Wallace Ride Baptist Church of
Jonesville Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. James O. McNair and the Rev.
Gayle Dean officiating. Burial was in the Jena Cemetery with Young's
Funeral
Home in charge of services.
Mrs. Carraway was born February 5, 1886 at Enterprise. She died Sunday at
Jefferson Davis Memorial Hospital in Natchez after a lengthy illness.
She was a member of the Vidalia Baptist Church and a charter member of the
First Baptist Church of Jonesville.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Nellie C. Dayton, Mrs. Elizabeth
Dean,
and Mrs. Doris Judice all of Vidalia; Mrs. Ethel "Bunkie"
Barrilleaux of
Crystal Beach, Tx, and Mrs. Minnie C. Hickey of Orange, Tx., a son, Archie
Bracey Carraway of Natchitoches; a sister, Mrs. George Lovall of
Shreveport,
17 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 2
great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Elizabeth Peyton Cornwell. She married Ethal Barksdale Carraway December

Mrs. Elizabeth Young, 80, dies on Sunday - Survived by a large family of
35
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Elizabeth Young,
affectionately known as "Grandma" Young, for many years a resident of
Jonesville, passed away Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter Mrs.
Laura Hotart, following a long and painful illness. About a year ago Mrs.
Young suffered a stroke, which made an invalid of her until her death.
Funeral services were conducted at the Trinity Baptist Church in
Jonesville
Monday afternoon at 3:30, with Rev. Miley, Baptist pastor of
Harrisonburg,
having charge, and being assisted by Rev. K.C. Seawright and Rev. C.C.
Fairbanks of this place. Interment followed in the Harrisonburg Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were: Messrs Lee Young, H.T. Young, Tom Carraway,
Archie
Carraway and Ernest Hotard. Honorary pallbearers were: Rev. C.C.
Fairbanks,
Messrs. H.W. Wriht, J.R. Boyd, C.E. Boyd, A.J. Swayze, E.W. Dayton,
Sr.,
Leon
Kirby, J.A. Guss, J.M. Kirby, Sr., and Dr. C.E. Enete;
Mrs. Young was well known throughout Catahoula Parish, where she had a
host
of friends. She was married to the late Thomas Young, who before his
death
was a familiar figure on the streets of Jonesville, Mr. and Mrs. Young
spent
their early married life in Trinity and Jonesville, where they reared
a
large
family.
Surviving are the following children: Rev. Henry young, Weslaco, Texas;
Mrs.
Laura Hotard, Jonesville; Mrs. Oscar Bartlett, Shreveport; Ernest
Young,
William Young and Howard Young, all of Jonesville; and 35 grandchildren and
14 great-grandchildren.
(Note: Elizabeth Peyton Cornwell was the daughter of William M. Cornwell
and Elizabeth Squyres, born October 14, 1857 - died August 21, 1937.
