Honorable Gorman E. Taylor was born September 13, 1924 in Viola,
Arkansas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Taylor. He moved to Shreve-
port at the age of ten eyars and attended public school in Shreveport.
After graduating from Byrd High School, he attended Louisiana
State University, graduating from Law School with a J.D. Degree, and
was admitted to the bar in February of 1950. He practiced law in
Shreveport until February of 1964 when he assumed duties as Judge of
the Juvenile Court for Caddo Parish having previously been associated
with the court as Legal Officer for eleven years.
Judge Taylor has recently been appointed by the Louisiana Supreme
Court to serve on the Judicial Council for a period of two years. He
is presently serving as President of the Community Council; he is Past
Master of Shreveport Masonic Lodge and is a Shriner. He belongs to
the following organizations:

American Legion
Veterans of Foreign Wars
Community Council (1971 President)
Cadd-Bossier Chapter of Louisiana Association Mental Health (Past

Judge Taylor is a member of the Haynes Avenue Baptist Church and is
very active in the activities of his church. He lives at 905 South Gate
Road
with his wife and three daughters.
