Me, I'd read this little book Scattered to the Winds by Carl Basseaux,
(given to me by Ms Meaux:) on this Friday morning, before we took off to
Galveston.. and when on the ferry from Bolivar...while out taking
pics.... I watched over the side, thinking of the, oh so many sailings
our ancestors undertook, "After" the Deportation!
Trying in vain, to think how they felt.
I couldn't fathom the myriad of thoughts each of these many New trips
gave them. 'Cause there was always, and Every Time, Disease and Death
and Starvation to try to stave off. And Aways there was Hope!
How in Gods' name did they persevere? Then to my heart, I answered my
own question. "In Gods' Name"
For they always had God with them and they Always took Mary before them,
into each new Trial and Tribulation and Hope. Just as the Priest told us
in Erath!:)
Therein lies the strength of our Acadian and Cajun Ancestors!:) love,
Alice
