Death Claims Mrs. E. Jackson Here Sunday
Mrs. Emma Dean Jackson, 83 years old, resident of Winnfield for
many years, died at her home on Lafayette street, Sunday, March 15.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., with
the Rev. Alwin Stokes officiating. He was assisted by Rev. H. B. Hysell
and Rev. H. H. McBride.
Burial was made in the Winnfield cemetery.
Acting as pallbearers were P. K. Abel, Bryant Sholars, B. L.
Anderson, J. H. Martin, J. E. Carter and Eli Harrell.
Born in Ward Four near Dodson, Mrs. Jackson lived her entire life
in this parish. She was the daughter of the late Sebern Dean and Philan
Milam Dean, pioneer residents of this section, who at one time owned and
farmed the land where the rock quarry and salt mine are now located.
Surviving are one grandson, Eben Jackson, of Miami, Fla., and a
great grandson, Jimmie Banks Jackson; one sister, Mrs. Mack K. Holston
of Westfield, Texas.
