"C. H. HAMEL DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS"
Charles Higdon Hamel, 77, 1112 Kings Highway, who had been in ill
health for many years, died Sunday morning in a local hospital.
Mr. Hamel was born in Gladewater, Tex., in 1876, and was married to
Lucy Christian in 1902. The couple celebrated their golden wedding
anniversary in April of last year.
Funeral services will be held in Osborn's Funeral Home at 4 p.m.
Monday. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.
The Rev. Arthur M. Depew, assisted by the Rev. K. R. Reed of the
Kings Highway Christian Church, will officiate at the services.
Survivors include his widow; two sons, Clarence T. and Claude L.
Hamel, both of Shreveport; two grandaughters, Linda and Virginia Sue
Hamel, both of Shreveport, and two grandsons, Father Thomas Howard and
John L. Hamel of St. Mary's, Calif.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Leon Bain, J. L. Dudley, Robert Keoun, E. J.
Waller, W. C. Hamel and Charles Hamel.
