Heavy rain yesterday.
Cooking Stoves - $10 each - the newest place to buy a stove, at "The
Fair" Shreveport
Work is progressing on our new jail and we will soon have a nice coop
for our jailbirds.
Mr. E. Meserola and wife have moved into the house adjoining the
residence of Mr. W.B. Simpson.
Among the high personages who appeared today upon the scene, and was
cordially welcomed by all alike, was His Majesty, King Sol.
Sad Bereavement
We regret to learn of the severe loss which our friends Mr. James G. and
Mrs. Maggie McDade, of Ward 6, this parish, sustained on the 14th
instant, in the death of their bright and beautiful little girl, DOLLIE
SUE, aged 5 years, one month, and 27 days. The watching of "other
babies" and this one gone! Such were our thoughts when we learned of the
death of this dear little family pet. Little Dollie Sue lived just long
enough to twine her tender baby fingers about mother's and father's
hearts and grasp them firmly as none but an only child can, when the
grim reaper, Death, claimed her. To the sorrowing parents we would say
"you cannot call the child back, but you can go to it". Earth has lost
it's richest treasure and charm to you, but Heaven holds it in
safekeeping. May your hearts be there with the treasure". One mortal
less on Earth, one angel more in Heaven.
