April 22, 2001
Dear Melton Cemetery Family amd Friends,
I want this letter to also be a reminder to you of an important homecoming; the
annual Melton Cemetery Reunion.
Saturday, May 19 is the date for our "Saturday before the third Sunday in May"
reunion. If it is not already on your calendar, be sure to put it on RIGHT NOW and
plan to BE THERE.
IMPORTANT-NOTES......
1) There will be a lot for us to do -- visiting, eating, business session, singing,
enjoying the scenery, movie watching, etc. So, WE WILL BEGIN AT 10:30 A.M. THIS
YEAR.. MARK IT DOWN.
2) John Earl Moore has been the face behind the VCR camera for as long as you can
remember. He has compiled and made available his unedited Melton Reunion footage
from 1986-2000. This 2 tape, 4 hour video is sure to bring back memories of times
past when we all looked younger. Laughter, good food, and faces of loved ones no
longer with us are captured on video. Copies have been made and will be available
for purchase with proceeds going to the Cemetery Fund. A 25-30 minute high-life tape
will be shown beginning at 10:30 at th tabernacle.
3) Much, much work has gone on since last year. At our business, we'll report on
progress in a number of areas.
4) Much, much work needs to be done. New faces need to be involved in future
planning and endeavors. We need your help whether young or not quite so young.
Although our cemetery is a place to honor the memories of those who have been buried
there, it is our time to step up to the plate to insure that the tradition of this
place and this event is maintained and enhanced. Please make your talents available.
5) We continue to try to expand our database of Melton relatives and friends who
have ancestors and loved ones buried in the cemetery. For some of you, this may be
the first time to receive this invitation. If you know of cousins, brothers and
sisters, grandchildren, etc. who have not been in the past few years, be sure to
invite them. Or, let me know and I'll invite them.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of .you on the 19th. Bring a covered dish, come
early, enjoy the fellowship, and stay as long as you can..
