Why don't you allow queries? There seems to be mainly north Louisiana
entries. DO you know the reasons for this.

Tom:
This mail list was created for the express purpose of having a medium for
people that go out and collect data to sent to those that upload the
information.
Unfortunately, it "appears" that the North Louisiana genealogist are the only
ones working. Fortunately this is not exactly true.
Most of the submissions that cross the list pertain to several parishes and
it saves posting or sending more than one message. The file managers of each
of those parishes are the only ones that have to pull the message. The rest
of the FMs hit the delete key.
Please be aware that many, many people send the data they collect directly to
the file manager of the parish instead of putting it on the list. So, it is
better to go directly to the parishes you are interested in. The parish in
which I live just uploaded another 50 or so obits. Sabine uploads a lot of
material every week also. Neither of these hardly ever appear on LaData. It
just depends on the parish and who is helping to gather and submit the
information. Some parishes have little or no data support while others have
several people working to gather data all the time.
The Louisiana Historical & Genealogical Society maintains a wonderful mailing
list for the entire Louisiana area. The LHGS board monitors the list and
answers questions when possible. Many Louisiana researchers are on that list
and response when they can help.
