1. Cathrin/Catriena/Catherine, b.12 Jul 1792, bp. 12 Oct 1792,
according to Readington, NJ, DRC baptisms (Volume 6, page 292 of the
"Somerset County Historical Quarterly). "The daughter of "Jacob
Striker" and "Hannah Labertux", was born on 12 July 1792 and
baptized on 21 October 1792 (not the 20th as reported in the Stryker
Could John Stryker be John Barnabus Stryker?
I believe you must be getting that from Bill Stryker's book. The
information he printed (But it was John BARABUS) was given to him from
an inaccurate source. That is not to say that I know for sure that his
name was not John Barabus or Barnabus. We have a couple of old family
letters where the name Barnabus is written after John but there is a
comma after John's name. As for Barabus, I really believe that was a
typo that got reprinted over and over! My main reason for believing that
is this was a religious Dutch family. Would any religious family name a
son Barabus? Also, as I mentioned before, Cathrin had a son named
Barney whom I think may have been named, in Dutch fashion, after a
family member who died young. Please understand this is my conjecture -
no proof, but it seems more likely than the John Barabus conjecture.
> Also, is there another sibling named Edward Benjamin
Stryker, b 6 Aug 1799, md Dec 1826 to Sarah Roberta
There is an Edward Stryker married to Sarah Roberta Hungerford. And he
is listed in one old letter as one of the siblings. But we don't know
that for sure either. I have more on Edward but not handy and not sure
if it is relevant at the moment.
I don't think Hannah is the daughter of Peter and Keziah
Hamilton Co., OH. I also don't think Sarah Potts was the second wife of Peter
who md Keziah.
If Sarah Potts was a wife of Peter, it would have been his first
marriage because his will lists his wife as Keziah.
Any ideas as to why John Stryker was buried in the Laboyteaux Cemetary
in Ohio? If he wasn't a grandson of Peter and Keziah?
I state in another message that Keziah is most likely Keziah Sebring not
Keziah Smock but again, no proof either way. If you have any, I would
be delighted to see it.
