I am new to the mailing list. My ancestor Hannah Laboyteaux (or Labertuse
in some records) was born about 1770 and married Jacob Stryker before 1792
in Somerset County NJ. They soon after moved to the Ovid NY area (Seneca
Co). Their daughter Hannah Stryker (b. 1795 in NY) married Jacob Eastlick.
Does anyone have any information on this NJ branch of Laboyteaux? Hannah
Laboyteaux Stryker's parents may have been named Peter and Mary, although I
have no documentation other than family lore.
Since Jacob Laberteaux and William Laberteaux (siblings, and children of
Peter Laboyteaux and Sarah Potts - sometimes referred to as Mary or Polly)
both went to the Finger Lakes area (Cayuga Co., NY) and were there by 1800,
and Jacob and Hannah (Laboyteaux) Stryker went to Seneca Co., NY in the early
1790s, there is a good possibility they were closely related. There is no
Hannah listed in the old Laboyteaux Bible where Jacob and William are listed.
There is an "Angenitye" (we've interpreted to mean "Agnes")
Laboyteaux born 9
Sep 1771. Could that possibly be Hannah? We have no husband or children
listed for "Angenitye."
