Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Byrl Combs, 93, of Cleveland, Tn., died on Friday, Dec. 25, 2009 in a local hospital.
He was retired from Aeronica Corporation in Middleton, Oh. He and his wife moved to Cleveland in 1991 from Lebanon, Ohio. He was a member of Westmore Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Brownlow and Jemimah Combs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Georgia Olema Blevins Combs; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Bill Archer all of Cleveland; one son, Douglas Combs, Sr., Springfield, Va.; sister, Thelma Hebner, Phoenix; grandchildren, Casey, Evan and Courtney Archer, Cleveland and Douglas Combs, Jr., Springfield, Va.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 2 p.m. at Grissom Funeral Home with Pastor Wendell Smith officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with Dr. Daniel Black, Rev. Sam Wills, Ryan Wills, Joe Nelson, Ben Nelson, Tom Cloud, Wade Melton and Jamie McPherson serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Dec. 29 from 12-2 p.m. at the Grissom Funeral Home who has charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.grissomfh.net

MURPHY, Robert E. age 86, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Thursday,
December 17, 2009 at Atrium Medical Center Emergency Room. He was born
April 24, 1923 in Wolfe County, Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Navy
during W.W. II. and was at Omaha Beach on the D-Day invasion. Robert was
employed as a Department Manager and Color Specialist at Sorg Paper
Company for 28 years. He then worked as a HVAC Technician in Melbourne,
Florida for 5 years, retiring in 1984. He was an avid fisherman and
enjoyed fishing with his son and grandsons at Cherokee Lake, Tennessee.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Preceding him in death were his
parents, Fleming and Susie (Martin) Murphy; four brothers, Garnet
Armitage, James Murphy, Henry Murphy and Donald Murphy; and two sisters,
Isabelle Dennis and Elizabeth Horton. He is survived by his wife of 68
years, Dutchie Murphy; two children, Bob (DaLee) Murphy of Franklin,
Ohio and Connie (Dave) Frye of Charlotte, North Carolina; six
grandchildren, Scott (Kelly) Harlow of Atlanta, Georgia, Lisa (Andrew)
Hobart of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Lori (Pete) Krenek of
Spartanburg, South Carolina, David (Anita) Murphy of Tallapoosa,
Georgia, Doug (Brigette) Murphy of Franklin, Ohio and Mindy (Calum)
Banks of Springboro, Ohio; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great
grandson; one sister, Bessie (Warren) Sargeant of Crawfordsville,
Indiana; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Monday,
December 21, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Grace Baptist
Church, 3023 N. Union Rd., Franklin, followed by services at 1:00 p.m.
at the church with Doctor Roger D. Green officiating and with grandson,
Scott Harlow, singing. Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park,
Trenton, Ohio with Military services by the Franklin V.F.W. Post Honor

DRAKE, Herington Buster age 86 of Beavercreek, passed away Tuesday,
December 15, 2009 at the Hospice Care Center. Buster was born on October
29, 1923 in Wolfe County, Kentucky to Charlie and Malvra (Oliver) Drake.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister. He
is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Helen (Bumgardner) Drake;
his devoted daughter, Debbie Drake; two sisters, Bonnie Carr and Golden
Brown; two brothers, Ralph Drake and Billy Joe Drake; Nieces and
nephews; and a special extended family, The Rileys. Buster served in the
U.S. Army during WW II with 3 stars and a Purple Heart. He retired from
both N.C.R. and G.M. Inland. He was a longtime member of Far Hills
Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon and in many other ministries. He was
also a member of Wolfe County, Kentucky Masonic Lodge #464 F. & A.M.
Friends may call from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2009 at
the First Baptist Church of Kettering, 3939 Swigart Rd., Dayton, Ohio
45440, with the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Pastors Larry Riley and
James Blaylock officiating. Interment Miami Valley Memory Gardens.

SMYTH, James Donald of Campton, Ky., husband of Virginia Bryant Smyth,
departed this life Dec. 8th, 2009 at the age of 87 years and 7 days. He
was a son of the late Edward Walter Sr. and Myrtle Hall Smyth, born in
Lee County, Ky. on Dec. 1st, 1922. He was a retired Supervisor of the
Zincgrip Maintenance Department at Armco Steel and attended The Bearpen
Community Church in Campton, Ky. Previously he was an Elder, Deacon and
Sunday School teacher at St. Luke United Presbyterian Church in
Middletown. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a kind and
gentle soul. He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Bryant Smyth of
Campton, Ky., two daughters, Deborah Kay (Donald) Mitchell of Franklin;
and Tonya Rhea (John) Wertheimer of Los Angeles, Ca.; one step-daughter,
Sue Bryant Taulbee of Winchester, Ky.; one brother, Gary Smyth of
Beattyville, Ky.; five sisters, Delilah Hall, Gladys Gross, and Shirley
Hall all of Irvine, Ky., Gertrude Edwards McGee of Mt. Sterling, Ky.,
and Ann Childers of Lebanon; one grandson, Eric James Smyth Mitchell;
one step-grandson, James Taulbee; and four step-great grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years and the mother of
his children, Grace Lucille Malone Smyth; and three brothers, Edward
Smyth Jr., Benjamin Smyth, and Gerald Smyth. He also leaves behind a
host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held Sat. Dec. 12,
2009 at 11 a.m. at the Porter & Son Funeral Directors Chapel in Campton,
Ky. with Rev. David Spencer officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30
a.m. Additional services will be held Sat. Dec. 12, 2009 at 4 p.m. at
the Grace Baptist Church Chapel in Middletown with Rev. Charles Denny
