Well, folks, I goofed. I didn't need an 1880 lookup after all. I realized
about an hour after I sent that message that the Gentrys I was looking for
were in Clay Co. in 1880.
A big thanks to those who replied!
Norma - Middletown, Oh.
If anyone has the 1880 Wolfe Co. census, would you look and see if there is
an Alfred and Esther Gentry listed? They are on the 1870 Jackson Co.
census, but not the 1880.
Thanks a bunch,
Norma, Middletown, Oh.
I am hoping that someone can help me with a problem I am having. I am looking
for any info on a Ruben Smith (b. 1806 - d. 3/13/1897) married to Emily Larson
(or Larrison). Children included David, Nancy, Ruben (my gg grandfather),
Patsy, and possibly Jacob. He is my ggg grandfather. He was born in
Virginia, and his death was reported in the Hazel Green Herald, as him being
one of the oldest members of Wolfe Co. at the time. He died in the home of
his son Ruben and is buried in Bear Pen cemetery.
In the 1880 Wolfe Co. census is living with a William Smith and his wife
Damoris (Demerias), and is listed as WIlliam's father, but the ages are only 9
years apart. Also, his children at this time are all in their teens, (oldest
16, youngest 11) and he is 74. Wondering if this is a second family. Is it
possible that he is the related to the Ruben Smith that married Sally Turner?
Any info on Ruben or any of his children would be GREATLY appreciated. Have
info I am more than willing to share.

Any help on this one ?
Hi! I was wondering if someone out there could help me solve a family
mystery. I know that this mailing list is for Wolfe Co. ... but know that many
of the researchers overlap for Lee Co. as well.
According to my family "folklore" my second-great-grandfather, Addison Irvine
KIDD, joined the LDS (Mormon) Church and took his family west on April 1st,
1903 to join the Saints in Utah. I have a story written by his daughter,
Florence, which outlines all of the details as they left Fillmore, Lee, KY.
In working with Carole BAYS she has information from another cousin which
states that Addison "left after he killed a Chambers man in Lee Co., KY."
This event would have happened in early 1903.
Are there any newspapers or other resources which would give a more
"objective" account of what happened? Or does anyone out there have any other
information? I would be interested in any information.
