I am looking to make contact with anyone who is researching, or has
knowledge of the LEWIS MORRIS family of Perry County. LEWIS is my 2nd
grandfather, b. in 1805, some census say VA., the 1880 cencus reports he
was b. in N.C. His wife and children are:
Elizabeth Oliver, b. circa 1825, dtr of JAMES OLIVER and LETHA AMIS
Lewis, Jr. b. circa 1848 (may be from his father's 1st marriage, to whom
I don't know).
Eliza, b. circa 1851
James, b. circa 1854
Leathy (Letha), b. circa 1857
Gilbert, b. circa 1860
Green Berry, b. circa 1863 (my grandfather, md. to Alcie Polly in 1890)
Rebecca, b. circa 1864
Dan (Daniel Boone) b. circa 1868 (md. Deborah Duff)
Dicy, b. 1869
William, b. circa 1870-71.
LEWIS MORRIS 1805, first appears on the 1840 Perry census living next
door to JOSEPH MORRIS and LEWIS MORRIS CALDWELL. JOSEPH could have been
his father, or a brother, LEWIS MORRIS CALDWELL is obviously related
somehow, and these CALDWELL'S appear living next to the MORRIS family on
all of the following census' through 1910. On the 1840 census, LEWIS
MORRIS has a wife and "nine" children, indicating he was md. before his
marriage to ELIZABETH OLIVER circa 1850. Interesting, he is missing from
the 1850 Perry census, appears again in 1860 now md. to ELIZ. OLIVER
with some of their children. I have no clue what happened to his 1st
wife and all of those children that appeared on the 1840 census. The
family lives for sometime in Bolin District, later moved to the
Yerkes/Forked Mouth area. I would really like to find out who LEWIS
MORRIS' parents were, and any other info. about him. He is a complete
brick wall. Anyone with any info./thoughts, please contact me.
Thanks so much
