I have posted this question on several sites in the past, but it has been awhile,
so thought I would put it out again. I am looking a "place" called ZEDIC. My
father, Herbert Combs, was born there in 1901. At the time, his family was
living near London, Ky in Laurel Co. The family removed from London to Jellico,
Tenn. either shortly before he was born, or right after. My mother told me
(before she died) that ZEDIC was located near the Ky/Tenn. border, and was very
small. Sounds like my father may have been born in route to Jellico. I have
checked in Whitley Co, can't find it. I have checked with U.of KY, and Kentucky
Place Names, no luck. I am hoping that someone out there just might have heard
of it at some point. Any info. appreciated.

I cannot find any Hurts Creek, but there is a Hunts Creek, located just east
of Hyden, in Leslie County. It's only about 6 miles to the Perry County
border, and about 11 or 12 miles to Hazard from there. This part of Leslie
County was at that time, part of Perry County. Could "Hurts" be a mistake in

I have a great map book that shows all the creeks [Kentucky Atlas & Gazetteer
by DeLorme]. There is no Hurts Creek listed, but it may be spelled
differently. If you give me some idea of the general area Jackson Larkin
lived in, I'll search the map for something it could be. Where was he in the
1840 and 1850 censuses?

Am actively researching the McGeorge family. They settled in VA and
spread in KY and TN. If your collection of genealogical data contains
any details (records of birth, baptism, marriage, death, military,
cemetery, etc), I will be most grateful to hear from you. Will pay copy
costs and postage, if necessary.
I am in special need of the marriage of John McGeorge Jr and Jane
Howard. They would have been married circa 1861/1862. If you find them
in your county records, please let me know. But even if you don't find
them, please let me know where they WEREN'T found.
