Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Geraldine ''Gerry'' STEELE, age 81, a resident of Hamilton, passed away 6:30
p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at Hospice of Hamilton at Sunrise. Gerry was
born July 16, 1923 in Greenhall (Owsley County) Kentucky, the daughter of Jesse
and Dora (Peters) Pierson. On June 3, 1946, in Covington, Kentucky, she was
united in marriage to Lawrence Steele and to this union two sons were born. For
many years Gerry had been employed as a waitress at Hiltonburger and Carter's
Restaurants. She had retired from Krauth and Benninghofen as an assembler. Mrs.
Steele enjoyed cooking and traveling to Florida. She was a member of the Zion
Lutheran Church and an active member of the Senior Independence Day Care
Center. She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Dennis Steele; four
grandchildren, Chad (Carla) Steele, Josh (Mindy) Steele, Hollie (James) Cope and Dennis
Steele Jr., all of Hamilton; one step-granddaughter, Amanda Hammons of Florida;
seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Katherine Bales of Tyner, Kentucky;
many nieces and nephews and a special friend, who she considered as a daughter,
Patti Scroufe. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 48
years, Larry Steele; her son, Jackie Lee Steele; four brothers and seven sisters.
The family wishes to thank Hospice of Hamilton at Sunrise for the loving care
and kindness they had shown to Geraldine and her family. Also a special thank
you to Dr. William Krall for his time and excellent care. Funeral service will
be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2005 at the Colligan Funeral Home,
437 So. 3rd Street, Hamilton with Pastor Timothy L. Landers, Minister of the
Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials
may be directed to the donor's choice
Lynda's note: Geraldine 's mother Dora Peters was the d/o Henry "Dough Gut"
Peters and Nicey Vires.
Edna "Nena" Vires, 45, was received into the arms of the LORD on may 29,
2005 at 8:28 pm. She was surrounded by her family. Her passing comes as a
great shock to all that knew and loved her. She wias laid to rest in her
hometown of Von Ormy Texas.
