I'm looking for any info on an Elizabeth Caudill who married a Fields,
probably an Albert Fields. They had a daughter, Velva Fields in 1941. Would all of
you please look in your files and see if you have this couple.
I need help to identify this Elihu Baker.
I had been told he is the Elihu Baker who is known to be the son of John
"Coony John" Riley & Esther Baker. Born a Riley, but took his mother's
name. Grandson of John Hammond Baker & Lucinda Amis & of John
"Grandsir" Riley and Elizabeth Williams.
However, the 1900 census shows Elihu as the immediate neighbor of one
James W. Baker & other Bakers.
I just wonder if this Elihu is part of the James Baker family rather
than the above Riley / Baker.
All are born in Kentucky & parents born in Ky.

I have been searching for this family for over 26 years and it is time to post my annual plea for help on my family. You'd think I would have given up by now but, nah - I am still at. Below is some of what I have. Any clues appreciated (He surely is not an only child!).
James and Margaret HUGHES.
Believe he or Margaret are Cherokee connected. They left McMinn County,Tennessee in 1835 (they are shown on the 1830 McMinn Census). James Hughes has a son Caleb Starr Hughes who I thought was possibly named for Caleb Starr, a man of note among the Cherokee, also of McMinn. Also his son Meredith Childress Hughes (a surveyor) was said to have a large contingent of Indians come to visit him in Clay County, Kentucky after he moved there.
James Hughes' first few children were born in South Carolina and James' wife was born in Georgia. Later, his son says in a census record that his father (James) was born in N.C. It is possible that he is the James Hughes in Newberry District, S.C. in 1810.
