I have unverified information that Rebecca Estep/Turner, sister to
Jesse Estep/Turner, daughter of Elizabeth Estep ( 1837-1914) who married
Elijah Couch, was wed to a William Rice. Elizabeth had Jesse Estep
Turner and Rebecca out of wedlock. Elizabeth then married Elijah Couch of
Owsley County, Kentucky. A cousin remembers their mother talking
about Aunt Rebecca and Uncle William, being the sister to Jesse
If you are one of Rebecca's descendants, would be happy to hear from
you. I am trying to put together a Rice/Bush/Akemon book together.
Lots of Information I would be willing to exchange.
Hope this helps someone. I had a very hard time tracing Jesse
Estep/Turner. He was born out of wedlock and used his father's name of Turner
interchanged with his mothers maiden name of Estep. Jesse was buried
under the name of Estep and his death certificate was Turner.
I believe Rebecca may have lived in Owsley and Perry Counties. Just
not sure. I also found two baby Rice graves at the Long field
