I realize it is a long shot, but my family, which originated in Owen
and Franklin counties KY, has a connection with the McCormick family in
My great-aunt, Arvina ("Vinie/Vina") Mullin (1862-abt 1950), married
Stephen S. McCormick (1859-1885) in Louisville on 20 Oct 1884. Stephen
died within a year of their marriage, and I have very little on his
family. Stephen was a teamster and a driver for the Central Passenger
Railway (a street railroad in Louisville). The 1880 census for
Louisville show Stephen, a street car driver, living with sisters
Teressa and Irene, grandmother, Terresa Sanders, and uncle, Dominic
If Stephen is related to your family, perhaps you can help me fill in a

Subject: McCormicks in Bracken Co. and Owen Co.
I am looking again for connections between McCormicks in Bracken Co.
and Owen Co. in early 1800's and after. My greatgrandfather was James
L. McCormick who was born 1841 in Brown Co., Ohio, and married Maria
Tilghman 1865 in Bracken Co.. One son of James L. and Maria was Harry
William (my grandfather) who was born 1869 in Kenton Co. and another
son Clarence M. who was born 1872 in Owenton, Owen Co. Further,
Clarence used to state that he visited his grandparents's grave in
Owen Co. I have found no record in Owen Co. of either Harry nor
Clarence. Now, Harry did marry into Smither line from Owen Co.---md.
Susan Smither 1905 in Bullitt Co.
Perhaps they were related to some of the McCormicks in Owen Co. In
Owen Co. I have Hugh McCormick b. 1753(?) in Pa. whose wife was
Rebecca and who died 1822 in Owen Co. The only two recorded children
were Francis (md. Deliah Wood and Elizabeth Betsy Taylor) and Mary
Ann. In addition, there was another Hugh McCormick: b. 1735 in Pa.,
md. Catherine Sanderson, d. 1799 (before Owen Co. established) in
Scott Co. leaving children George, William, Elizabeth, Mary and > Martha.
As for Bracken Co., James L. was son of Dr. William B. McCormick (b.
1814 in Augusta, md. Anna Maria Meeks, was in Brown Co., Ohio
1840/50's, d. 1904 in Bracken Co., and is buried at Payne Cemetery.
William was son of John E. McCormick b. 1788 in Pa., md. Mary Anderson
1809 in Mason Co., Ky., was a tailor, d. 1868 and is buried at Payne
The question is how James L. ventured over into Owen Co. if not to be
with relatives. Anyone with any clues as to the connection between
these or other McCormicks in Bracken Co. and Owen Co. please advise.
