Hi Phyllis, - don't work too hard.
Looking for ANY info on a John and Hannah Bishop, ca 1820's on up. John
moved here from Maryland, had a family and moved to Henry County. Several

Elandor Bishop, b. ca 1815 m. Jos. Van Pelt
Nancy Bishop, b. ca 1816, m. Andrew Bourne
Mary Bishop, b. ca 1829, m. John R. Jeans
Thomas b. 1823
William, m. Eliz. Smoot ??? (not sure this one is ours)
Any relations out there?
I have been unable to find the marriage records of the following Owen Co ancestors:
1. JAMES MADISON PRYOR m. NANCY WEBSTER
According to family history, they were married on 24 Oct, 1832 in Poplar Grove, Owen Co by Rev. Duvall, a Bapt. minister. The Owen Co courthouse does not have a record of this marriage. More than one descendant has been to Owenton to check for this record and we cannot find it. Does anyone have access to church or other records that might allow us to document this marriage? I do know that they later lived in Monterey with or near their son, Dr. Green Pryor and all of them belonged to the Monterey Bapt. Church.
2. WILLIAM M. PRYOR b. in 1848 in Owen m. MARY CAROLINE HATELY, b. 1850 in TN
William was the son of James Madison and Nancy Pryor and lived in Owen most of his life. Mary Caroline was dau. of James Samuel Hately, and CASSANDRA ORR, sister of STOKELY ORR. All were Owen residents. William M. and Mary Caroline would have probably been married between 1865 and the early 1870's. Were records not kept during that time?
Does anyone have a list of marriages from Owen records who could check these folks for me?
