This is the abrev. used on census records concerning citizenship's
Hi Jeanie: The following from Wisconsin Rooteweb.
a. Na - the immigrant was already naturalized
b. Pa - the papers were filed, i.e. he was in the process of becoming
naturalized. Generally this should suggest that the Declaration of the
intent was filed, but that he had not yet petitioned for citizenship.
c. Al - resident was an alien. This should be interpreted to mean that
the naturalization process had not yet started.
