Jacob BELLIS was related (brother or cousin) to my ancestor, Philip BELLIS.

DEED: Sampson ARCHER to Jacob BELLIS
3 December 1825 (4 acres, one road, and 11 poles along Brushyfork)
Nicholas County Court Record Book G, page 194.
This indenture made this 3rd day of December in the year of our Lord one
thousand eight hundred and twenty five between Sampson Archer and Polly his
wife of the County of Nicholas and State of Kentucky of the one part, and
Jacob Bellis of the County and State aforesaid of the other part;
Witnesseth: That the said Sampson Archer for and in consideration of the
sum of Ten Dollars and Eighty cents him in hand paid the receipt whereof is
hereby acknowledged, hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents
doth grant, bargain, and Sell to the said Jacob Bellis his Heirs and assigns
one certain tract or parcel of Land situate laying and being in the County
of Nicholas on the waters of the Brushyfork, and bounded as follows Towit;
Beginning at a Stake in Keevers Patent line and corner to Archer; Thence
with said patent line S. 60° E. 70 poles to a stake corner to said Bellis;
Thence N. 29° E. 13 poles to a white oak; Thence N. 61 1/2° W. 42 1/2 poles
Beech; Thence N. 85° W. 30 1/2 poles to the beginning containing 4 acres one
Rood (sic) & Eleven poles; together with all and Singular the premises and
appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining; To have and
to hold the said tract or parcel of Land and premises unto the said Jacob
Bellis his Heirs and assigns forever. And the said Sampson Archer for
himself his Heirs (?...?) the aforesaid tract or parcer (sic) of Land and
premises with its appurtenances unto the said Jacob Bellis his Heirs and
assigns, from and against the claim or claims of himself his Heirs (?...?)
against all persons claiming by through or under him doth and will warrant &
forever defend by these presents; But it is hereby understood, and agreed on
by and between the parties aforesaid that if the aforesaid tract or parcel
of Land or any part thereof shall ever hereafter be lost or taken by reason
of a prior or better claim by due course of Law, the said Sampson Archer
hereby himself or his Heirs to refund and pay Back to the said Jacob Bellis
at the rate two Dollars and fifty cents per acre. In testimony whereof the
said Sampson Archer and Polly, his wife have hereunto set their hands and
seals the day and date first above written.

This deed of bargain and sale from Sampson Archer & Polly his wife To Jacob
Bellis was this day produced to my office and acknowledged by the said

is duly recorded. - Given under my hand this 3rd day of December 1825.
