A. T. Rankin, "Berry" one of Harrison county's best known and most popular
citizens, died at his home near Florence, Ky., Sunday, Feb. 22, at an
advanced age. Mr. Rankin suffered a stroke of paralysis some time ago,
from which he never recovered. For many years he owned and operated a farm
near Berry, where he was numbered among the leading citizens. Of a
generous nature, liberal and friendly, a man of high ideals, it is
strange that every man was his friend and that he was welcomed everywhere.
He reared a large family and his sons are of the leading citizens in their
different communities. The death of this excellent man will be mourned by
wide circle of friends, who extend sympathy to the bereaved family.
funeral and burial took place at Benson yesterday afternoon, the body being
laid to rest by the side of his wife, who preceded him about ten years.
Mr. Rankin had sold his farm near Berry a few years ago and bought near
Florence, where he resided with his son, Grover. Surviving sons are, Dr.
L. Rankin of Shawhan; James Rankin, formerly secretary of the Burley
Tobacco Co., Glencoe; Robert Rankin, Elgie Rankin and Grover Rankin.
