Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to give you a status report - sorry I didn't get this out about a week
ago to let you know what all was going on.
For a while now, we've had enough space on our server that we lease to actually store
all of the images that we've collected along with the database and all of the other
scripts and files that makes our site what it is. For several reasons recently the
Project Administrators felt that it was in the best interest of our project to move all of
the images to our own server instead of having them residing on Rootsweb's servers.
For the last couple of weeks, we've been busily moving all of the project's images
to the KY Vitals server so they're now under our own umbrella, or they will be when I
get done with a final upload tonight. That's over 35 GB worth of image files! Once
this is finished, the revised scripts will be uploaded and activated and all searches,
transcription and proofing assignments will actually be accessing the images on the KY
Vitals server. It may be a few days before you see any more images to actually transcribe
- there's a couple of final tweaks that are required to get the script working that
renames the images and drops them into your transcribng folders. I've got images
ready to go and will start sending them through as soon as this final step is working.
In the meantime, thanks for your patience as we've worked through this process.
I can't say enough good things about the volunteers to this project - You're the
best!
Sherri
