Good morning to everyone!
We should receive the last of the proofed and submitted transcriptions back from
volunteers today!! That means we can prepare them to be put into a database and they
should appear shortly indexed on the site.
We are still working on the larger MySQL database that will have all our advanced search
capabilities. It will have to be housed of RootsWeb server space, so space is somewhat of
a concern.
QUESTION FOR VOLUNTEERS:
Does anyone object to not having their name shown on every record you transcribe? Would
you be satisfied if we kept a nice listing on our "thanks" page (linked from the
main project page) showing how many records you've worked on and in what capacity?
This will save us 3 fields in the database and a lot of space. Submissions would show the
name of the submitter, which would be a link to their Registry entry. Transcriptions would
show Transcribed by members of The Kentucky Vital Records Project team, with a link to the
"thanks" page.
I need everyone's input on this one. We'll begin transcribing again in just a few
days!!
