After agonizing consideration, I have decided to step down as coordinator for the Kentucky
Vital Records Project. The coordinator of this project has a huge time commitment, heavy
responsibility and handles many stressful situations. Most of you know I've had a very
difficult year and a half and have a lot on my plate. It is my time to step back and do
less.
I am not leaving the project. I will continue to help as a technical advisor and with
programming and other things as time and energy permit. The exact nature of my involvement
will be totally up to the new coordinator.
According to project policy, the Assistant Project Coordinators have the responsibility
to select a replacement and have spent the last week or so doing just that. Sherri Bradley
is their choice as new coordinator for the project, effective immediately. Sherri has good
skills and is very committed. She has my total support, as anyone who was chosen would
have.
These wonderful Assistant Project Coordinators (including Sherri) proved that they are
quite capable in their duties by keeping the project running smoothly during the months my
husband was dying.
And so, I pass the baton... Thank you, Sherri, for accepting this load! Thank you,
Assistant Project Coordinators, for your total support and your help in so many matters.
You have been wise and invaluable in shaping the project. Thank you, proofers and
transcribers and image processors, for your dedication to my dream!! I can't even
count the friendships forged as I've worked with so many of you.
I look forward to seeing what great ideas and changes you implement to take this project
to higher levels.
Godspeed!
Sheryl Slaughter
