I just wanted everyone to know we are still moving forward. Ivan has had a pretty
significant impact on our proofers, but they are working hard to get us caught up. We have
quite an imbalance between transcribers and proofers so we're asking a lot of our
proofers. We do have expectations that a couple of the newest project volunteers will
quickly become qualified proofers.
I uploaded another 300 transcriptions that were completed yesterday. There are still about
700 unassigned transcriptions waiting to be proofed, so we're looking at a couple of
weeks.
We've recently received a huge collection of 1852-1910 births, marriages and deaths
(thanks Jeri) and will begin working on those when we resume transcription.
We're also still working on the new interface. Once this is up, the proofing process
will become much more streamlined and take much less time. I think our patience in getting
this right will make everyone's jobs much easier.
