Since our project will ultimately cover many years, we've been trying to come
up with a database that cover not only what we would find on the death
certificates from 1911 onward, but other items we will be adding in the future.
A large number of people of German origin settled in KY, including people of
various religious faiths. If you have a fairly good knowledge of given names
(nicknames and shortened forms would be great, too) for people with German
ancestry, and don't mind helping to work up a list, I'd love to hear from you.
If you are familiar with any other particular group of ethnic or geographic
names, feel free to submit a similar list of those to me. It would be a great
favor. One word of caution - because of legal considerations, you can't just
look up "Latvia", for instance, and do a copy/paste of their lists. If you
do find a great list, send me the url, and we'll check out the site
permissions. I can't promise we'll include all submissions on the database, as
many will
be duplicates, but this would go a long way toward making sure that a data
search will be comprehensive.
I also wanted to take a minute to thank everyone who has donated some extra
time to working on these special "in between transcripts" projects. Anything
that we can do is one less item to take away Sheryl's time from getting the new
site set up.
You guys are so good!
