am doing Jefferson County. Louisville is the main city in Jefferson
Co. I have had several certificates say "city" for place of birth. Do I
put "city" or "Louisville" or "Jefferson County" or ?????
I've put
"city" on the first two, but now I'm wondering the correct name.
Thanks, Barbara Schan

Barbara,
Put "City", as it is transcribed. It would up to the researcher to determine
if "City" means, Louisville, St. Matthews, Jefferson Town, Beuchel, etc. that
were once separate from Louisville itself.
Today that would be even harder because Louisville annexed the entire county
18 months so, so technically in 2004 "City" would be any part of Jefferson
County, and vice versa.
