Dear Volunteers:
If your counties are significantly behind, I need to hear from you that you are still
interested in working on the project. Sue is temporarily having computer accessibility
issues, so I am checking in with you.
Please log in and look at your county assignments. Below each county name will show the
oldest image date in the folder if you are a transcriber, or the oldest transcribed record
in the folder if you are a proofer.
If you are behind more than 30 days, please make sure you work on the oldest records
rather than clearing a county. Our goal is to see every record transcribed or proofed
within 30 days. Obviously we grant exceptions for counties that get large numbers of
records such as Jefferson and Fayette, or when you notify Sue or myself that you have a
temporary problem that will prohibit you from staying current.
We have been carrying a number of volunteers who stay chronically behind, which puts a
burden on Sue as she scrambles to help keep counties caught up. For this reason, we have
instituted a policy that we will reassign counties that are more than 3 months behind.
We're instituting this policy in steps. Those counties that were more than one year
behind have been reassigned; those counties that are 9 months behind will automatically be
reassigned on April 1; those counties that are 6 months behind will automatically be
reassigned on May 1.
Beginning May 1, if your county goes over 3 months and we haven't received a request
for temporary assistance or an explanation, the county will be reassigned. The 3-month
policy will be 4 months for Jefferson and Fayette counties.
We are not trying to be mean or demanding. We are always ready to assist those who have
illness, extended vacations, etc. We just need for you to make sure you communicate with
us and that, overall, you are able to keep up.
Please be aware that the next upload will be a pretty large number of images. I am trying
to get some programming on the image processing fixed before uploading, but right now, it
looks like it could be 2,000 images.
Thank you so much for all your hard work!
Sheryl
