The Annual KYGenWeb brunch & get-together at Perkins Family Restaurant in
Lexington will be held on 5 August. This is held on the Friday before the
KGS annual meeting (which is on 6 August this year). This is a tradition
that was started long before I joined KYGenWeb, but is one that I really
enjoy and a wonderful opportunity to get to know some of your fellow project
members. While this has always been geared toward the County Coordinators,
we're expanding it this years since we now have new projects that aren't
tied to specific counties.
Perkins Family Restaurant is located at 2401 Richmond Road, right off of New
Circle Road, in front of Lexington Mall. We'll meet at 9:00 and it will
last until ??. No reservations are necessary - we all just show up and
order what we want off of the menu. There's no agenda of what goes on -
it's just an opportunity to meet some of your fellow County Coordinators and
to spend some time with old friends. Being able to put faces to the names
and personalities that we see online is a lot of fun and I think helps us
relate better in the virtual world we're all working in.
As an "extra" this year, I'll be doing a short demo of my newest
"toy" -
I've got a slide adapter for my digital camera that will actually convert
microfilmed records to digital images without a microfilm reader. <vbg>
Sheryl and I will be trying it out some that day to work out the bugs so we
can use it to produce images for the KY Vital Records Project - I'll be glad
to share with any of the rest of you that are interested, too. I've got
microfilmed marriage records & minister returns. If any of you have access
to other types of records on microfilm, please consider bringing them so we
can try out as many types of records as possible.
Please consider joining us if at all possible.
