Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
This project does not solicit donations from anyone. However, some generous volunteers have asked if they could donate cash or software to us.
The following individuals have made donations:
Sherri Hall -- 5 year kyvitals.com domain registration
Bonnie Snow -- $100 toward our $125.35 web space fee for 11/10/2004-11/10/2005
Phil Rivera -- Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 software
Thank you so much for your generosity in helping support this project!!
If any project volunteer has concerns about how funds received are being used, please feel free to voice them!!

I know there are still going to be rare instances where a transcriber writes over a database record from the information on an incorrectly-matched image.
TIP: If the death date is OFF between the certificate and the transcription, suspect that this may have happened. Transcribers cannot change the death date field, so we do have a small way to keep track of this problem.
The only way to find out for sure is to go to the KDI and check to see if the image is indeed assigned to the database record you are working on.

Any proofers available to help me clear a few orphan counties of imported transcriptions?

I've had several people ask how quickly they need to complete their transcription, proofing and image processing assignments. We have set a goal to have assignments finished within 30 days of them being assigned.
Once you catch up your county on your initial batch of images, the image will appear in your transcription assignment folder on the same day we process it. Transcriptions will show up in the proofer assignment folder on the same day they are transcribed. You can look at the OLDEST IMAGE or OLDEST TRANSCRIPTION date for each county to see which records are oldest.
If you are not going to be able to complete your assignment within 30 days, please notify the project administrators and we will assign some temporary help. We don't expect you to meet the 30-day goal if we acquire a very large collection of records for one county.
Don't push yourselves. Unless we ask you to turn something around quickly for us, we've got things set up so you can work when and for how long you wish. This should be fun, not pressure.
For normal transcription and proofing, you do not need to notify anyone when you empty your folders. The only person who needs to notify us is the image processor who has no raw images to work on and needs us to upload some.
Proofers, if you find yourselves bored, feel free to let us know you are available to pick up odd jobs.
Thanks everyone! Things have smoothed out and are getting back to normal.

Yahoo! Mail
Stay connected, organized, and protected. Take the tour
We have a number of transcribers who have not yet responded to the May 26 e-mail request or asked for their counties to be unlocked so they can begin transcription.
Next Sunday, I will reassign any unclaimed assignments.

Yahoo! Mail Mobile
Take Yahoo! Mail with you! Check email on your mobile phone.
We've created a form that will help those of you working on Debbie's lookup project.
Please go to:
http://kyvitals.com/staff/staffHome.php
Click on the LOOKUP DEATH RECORD link on the left.
You will be asked to log in. Do so.
There is a link at the top of the form for the instructions. Please print them out and go over them.
You can now use this new form to do a quick test to see if the death year and death certificate number will bring up the correct record. This will keep you from having to look up most of your images on the KDI.
You should also key in the record after you get your results from the KDI to make sure the numbers from KDI bring up the correct record in our database.
