I know this isn't what was written, but I'm wondering somewhere up the line
they were going for "Sidney" or "Sydney"? Those could be two t's, as in
Sittany.

Could you help me identify the first name of the deceased?
Also the first name of the father?
Thanks, Barbara
---
The first name looks like:
Leinttatia - There is a "blurb" between the "L" and the "i" that looks very
much like the first "e" in "housekeeper".
The father's name "John".
Sharon
To me it looks like Linttetia for the deceased's name, first name of father
is John.

Do you want me to start over or start where I left off? Since my Session was
the one that caused all the trouble.
LOL, you certainly didn't cause trouble. If anything, you saved us a bunch.
You didn't do a thing wrong.
Sheryl had created the copies of the training file, and unbeknownst to her,
something she thought she had covered didn't react the way she thought it
would. Because you and I had such great tracking on your answers I was able to
give her a pretty good history on chain of events. As a result, all of the
replies that were entered before this morning were deposited into one file, which
glitch Sheryl was able to go right to, and fix with no problems.
I spent today sorting and comparing, and the right files should show up in
your own numbered file by tomorrow, I hope. In any case, just go to your url I
sent, and take up where you left off. I don't remember if you finished age or
not, so you might want to do that one over again. (It's a shortie, anyway.)
Then all you have left are the 3 full cert trans. sessoins. If I have
remembered incorrectly, sorry. I have spent all day comparing everyone's files, and
am just about fizzled out!
When you are finished, I want to make sure you get a copy of any of your
answers that you don't have.
One more thing - after you have completed the course, you can always look at
the training sessions again for reference by taking the "4" out of your url to
make plain train instead of train4. Since you won't be entering any answers,
you can ignore any feedback pages. The only thing that stood out to me was
that you need to look over the "unnamed infant Smith" type guideline again.
Oth than that it was the standard stuff we all do from time to time. As soon as
I make the template I'll send you a copy or your results.
I have to say, you have been a huge help. I don't even want to think about
how many folks I could have driven off if they were brand-new volunteers.
I'll check again tomorrow evening and make sure you are ready for me to
remove your answers, and release the file to someone else.
Have a great evening.
Janice
Sorry about that, everyone, and Bee.
But that gives me an opportunity to let you know that Sheryl was able to fix
the glitch this morning, and anyone who has been assigned a numbered file can
go ahead and finish their course.
Note: Whenever you reenter your course sessions, please use the numbered url
you were assigned. It has links to any of the areas on the training
sessions for your file.
That's great. Thank you, Bee. For my records could you please give me your
last name?
The experienced people seem to be flying through this, so it shouldn't be
very long until I can assign you a Training File number. I should have a slot
open either tomorrow or the end of the week.
Talk to you then.

To those of you who have been issued training file numbers and have not
started the course yet, please hold off for a little bit (and could you please give
me a shout to let me know who you are?), as we have uncovered a glitch -
exactly why I have asked your help!
Bless you guys.
Janice
I'll be willing to try the training course. Right now I'm in the middle of a
folder, so if a training file isn't available at this time, I can wait.
Sue Robertaccio
Although no one has done this, I want to caution everyone not to follow an
impulse and try out the training course unless you have requested and been
assigned a Training File number.
Because of the way the sessions are set up, only one person at a time can use
a particular number. I more or less go in and "erase the blackboard" and
record the results so that another person can enter answers for file 3, file 4,
or whatever. But once you start, you can go from start to finish, without
interruption, if you wish. All we ask is that you let me know when you are done.
This is a great list of people - everyone is really supportive of the group,
and I know you wouldn't want to accidently enter your own answers in the
middle of someone else's training. Now that you know a little more about how this
will work, you'll understand why we want the experienced volunteers to try out
the system first.
You'll also understand why, if you apply for a training file number, you may
have to wait until some finishes. I can promise you, though, that going
through the entire course takes nowhere near the time required for transcribing a
folder.
These training sessions in no way replace the terrific help that is available
by asking for opinions from the group, but we would encourage everyone to
check the guidelines first.
Ideas and suggestions are welcomed - after you take the course!
Janice
Hi, Kris. Here's the url for Training File 3. If you need to reach me, the
"Contact Coordinator" email button (on the training pages) to
beagen48(a)hotmail.com also reaches me.
Thanks for doing this - we want to make the training experience as smooth as
possible for all new volunteers.

Hi, everyone.
Our guideline training class in formatting death certificates is now up and
running. I have 4 slots still open and would like to invite all on the list to
take the course and let us know your thoughts.
Here's what you can expect: You will go through 5 short sessions, each
describing the formatting rules for a certain situation, and asking you to answer a
few questions that have just been covered. Session 6 contains full-length
certificates to be transcribed. Some of these are of the 1911 type we have all
come to know and love, and a few are of more recent years - and the change in
the certificates is dramatic.
The course is constructed so that you can do part of the course and come back
to finish later if you have to. We only have 5 training slots that can be
worked concurrently, so first come, first served. Sheryl has done such a great
job on this, and we hope to have the deciphering reference section open for
use in the near future.
If you are ready to take the course, you can let me know using this email
address. I'll send you a url to take you to the training file you will be
using.
Thanks, we appreciate your help.
Janice
My transcriptions that I have done today have not gone through. They
show that they have been sent, yet when I checked the data file, nothing
has come through in an hour. I am not sure who to address this problem
to, but hope the correct person contacts me. It has never happened before.

I started at 4032 this morning and went through 4040.
Any suggestions appreciated---Barb Schan
