Hello List Watchers,
I am requesting help in locating the burial place and death dates for a family that lived at Sassafras Ridge in the 1910 through about 1930 period. They lived on a farm on Ash Log Road. William Green Harris Marshall and Dixie Lee (Allen) Marshall were both born in Tennessee. He was born ca 1863 and she was born November 1887. They had 4 children. The first child was born, and died at Sassafras Ridge about 1911. The second, a son William Green Harris Marshall, Jr. was born 1912 at Sassafras Ridge. The third, a daughter Mary Elizabeth Marshall was born 13 October 1914 at Sassafras Ridge. The fourth, and last daughter Pearl B. Marshall was born March 1921. No birth record has been found in Fulton County records for either Mary Elizabeth or for Pearl B. Marshall.
Dixie Lee Marshall died June 1921 just three months after the birth of Pearl B. who was then cared for by the housekeeper whose surname might be Alexander. Mary Elizabeth left Kentucky to live with her mothers brother in Madison County, Tennessee soon after the mothers death but Pearl B. remained in Kentucky until 1934 when she went to live with the same uncle in Tennessee as her sister. No knowledge is known about the brother, although he was still alive in 1999 but cannot be located at present. Based on the above information it would appear that William Green Harris Marshall must have died between 1922 and 1934, but no record has been found for his death either.
I am interested in obtaining any data relating to this family, but specifically would like to know death dates and place of burial. It has been assumed by the still living daughter Pearl, that they may have been buried in the Sassafras Ridge Cemetery close to the family farm. If someone has access to any records for that cemetery, or can advise me where to look for help in obtaining further information, I would be much in their debt.
Thank you in advance,
Someone has told me that there's an entry in the FULTON COUNTY HISTORY that
lists my ancestor Lacy Midgett/Midiett/Midyett as being a member of the 3rd
Kentucky (CSA). Can someone please verify that for me?
