I did some brief checking on Frazier Carman's military record. The KY Adjutant
General's Report for the Roll of Company F, 27th Kentucky Infantry (pages 250-251),
lists Frazier among those who died. He Enrolled in the KY Union Volunteers on October 20,
1861, but was not mustered in until June 30, 1863 at Munfordsville, KY. A footnote states
that less than 3 months later, on September 4, 1863, he was shot at Munfordsville, Ky, by
sentence of General Court-martial. So, it appears that the rumor has some basis in fact.
