I know I haven't posted in a long time due to getting things together because of my
pending move. I wanted to take a second to give a very deep, heartfelt thanks to Mac
Blair for his time and energy in volunteering to do lookups in the Breck. Co. Cemetery
books. In his spare time, he has worked hard to provide what he could find and pass it
along to those who emailed requests. Right now, though, it's become more than he can
keep up with and is having to step down in offering lookups. Mac... thank you SO much, on
behalf of myself and all those that you have helped!!
Just a friendly reminder to those sending in a request for any of our Breck. Co.
volunteers. They have families, jobs, and lives outside of the volunteer work they do for
us researchers. So the service they volunteer to provide is something they do in their
spare time. When someone makes a request for a look up, PLEASE be mindful of what you are
asking. If, for instance someone asks for "John Smith" in the 1850 census,
that's easier for volunteers to look up and send the results they have found. If
someone asks for all the "Smiths" and "Jones" in the 1850 in the
census, it not only is an extremely large request, but the volunteer may be able to do it
and become disheartened. All I ask is, please be mindful of what you are asking of the
volunteers. If it is something reasonable that you, yourself, would be able to perform if
in their shoes, then more than likely it wouldn't be a problem. If it's something
that you wouldn't be able to complete in a timely fashion for yourself, it's
highly unlikely that the volunteer could do it either.
You all have a good one!
