OK, I need you to please check all of your pages again. We've had the
script run to fix the Email Registry links and I'm not sure how many of you
use the virtual ssi links she's referring to. If you have reference to
them, please drop me a note and let me know.
The biggest thing that this message is referring to for us as KY Archives
FMs is the new search engine - if you use the search engine that was
formerly at Rootsweb, please look at the coding and let me know what it says
so I can report in to Debra and we can get everything run against the search
and replace script once and for all and we don't have to keep downloading
copies of everything once again... Luckily, if the only thing that will
affect us is the search engine, we'll just have to download our TOC pages
again and we'll keep marching forward. (Keeping my fingers crossed for
everyone. <g>)

Subject: [archives] Important about replacement script
ok everyone please listen up. We have gone through our first
replacement
links
and that took care of the links to the archives files.
Now we are faced with having to replace links to the email registry, most
of us have those as well as to the search engines.
as well as some virtual links such as ../usgenweb/ssi links
This is going to mean that most of us are once again going to have this
script run on
our
states to replace links then once again download the updated files.
I think it's best at this time to stop any more replace links until we can
get all
the variations into
one script that we only have to go through one more time.
This will happen soon as we get closer to finishing the search engine,
it's ready
in some states but not all yet and hopefully we can once again go state by
state and
I can mark them off as completed.
What I would like for you all to do before we start this next one is check
your pages
and send us back a list
of the search engine addresses that you see most often on your pages.
I think the most common is the
http://www.usgwarchives.org/newsearch.html
but there are others so if you have links to a search engine other than
that one
please let us know.
Thanks everyone!!
Debra (who doesn't want to download all her files two more times)
