Subject: Email Registry - Please Pass This On.
Please help share this information throughout the Project.
The Email Registry at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg was started by the
former KYGenWeb SC as a way to manage email addresses on our website(s).
The Project has grown and now many other projects also use it. A few months
ago the Registry was moved to
http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/.
David Crosby generously automated the process of registering and updating
your email addresses.
To cut down on any confusion and trying to prevent the requirement of
updating thousands of links, the pages on Rootsweb now point the the
Genrecords site, where all updates are made. This also ensures that all
changes to the Registry IDs are made and we don't have two different
Registries to maintain.
Hoping to help clarify, as an example, my Registry ID is
http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html#0000051. If you go to
http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg/vols/00001.html and go down to entry
0000051 and click on this link, though, you'll be taken to
http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00001.html#0000051.
Bottom line is that your links for the Registry at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~archreg now automatically point to the individual
pages at
http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks again to David Crosby for taking the ball and run with it to
streamline the maintenance of the Registry.
