Yes, if you want to have the search function on your Archives TOCs, you have
to link to the search page, you can no longer put the search box on your TOC
page. I don't think there's a specific place on the TOC that you should be
placing it. (Tom may correct me on this.)
I had set up a freefind search engine for the KY Archives before they got
this search functioning. For that one, you can have the search box placed
on your TOC page, but I'm not sure it's searching our entire archives
directory - I'll have to check. I know that at one point it was just doing
a partial indexing, I requested additional size/pages and they gave them,
but I don't remember if it was still only a partial search or not.
Several other states have also set up freefind or google searches for their
states. I'm positive that you're either seeing a freefind or google search
box, or links to the old search engine at RW that no longer works.

Sherri,
I am confused because I thought I had seen the search form on some
county sites in other states. Hmm, I am trying to understand what you
are telling me. Are you stating that a link to the search page should be
added to the county sites? If so, where is it to be placed?

The search will have to be linked to the URL, you can't add the search box
in/on your page. You don't need a path for the form when you link to it.
There is currently no option to add a search specific to one county. You
can search the entire archives or the KY archives. To search by county,
you'll have to use the county name as a keyword in your search. We've not
been given a definite answer as to whether we'll eventually be able to
search by county or not. We were told that David's still trying to get
everything up and working correctly and hasn't had the time to do any
further refinement of the search.
