Yes, the search form/format that was on Rootsweb is obsolete now and will
not be resurrected as such.

Subject: Re: [KYARC] County Search Box
Thanks Suzanne, for your reply and help.
I have links to both of the these search boxes.
Search Kentucky USGenWeb Archives
http://www.usgwarchives.net/search/search.cgi/searchky.htm
USGenWeb Archives Search Engine
http://www.usgwarchives.net/search/search.cgi/search.htm?form=extended
A more direct form box code is just below this which did allow users to
just search within ky/caldwell (as an example). It looks like this was a
rootsweb feature and I was wondering if there was an update with the
change to
http://www.usgwarchives.org/?
<form method="post"
action="http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/htsearch">Matc
h: <select name=method><option value=and>All<option
value=or>Any</select>Format: <select name=format><option
value=built-in-long>Long<option
value=built-in-short>Short</select>Sort by: <select
name=sort><option value=score>Score<option
value=time>Time<option value=title>Title<option
value=revscore>Reverse Score<option value=revtime>Reverse
Time<option value=revtitle>Reverse Title</select><input
type=hidden name=config value=htdig><input type=hidden
name=restrict value="ky/caldwell"><br>Search:<input
type="text" size="30" name="words"
value=""><input
type="submit" value="Search"></form>
I guess that is what I am wanting to ask about. Is this just obsolete
now?
or is there a way for us to update it? No matter where I have tried these
boxes, even out of state, they all send you to 'USGenweb Archives Search'
which seems redundant if you already have links to them. Plus, it seems
misleading to have it posted as search your county archives when it takes
you to a search engine of all of USGenWeb.
The Kentucky search by county works just fine and I have no problem just
leaving this link and deleting the other form if there is no update for
this. I just wanted to know before I remove it.
again thanks, Vicki
