Subject: [KYARC] MSG from State FM
To All KyArchive FMs
Finally, we have a current and accurate FM Roster after two weeks and a
lot of headaches. The KYGW Archive web site indicates this updated
information
http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ky/kyfiles.html. Each FM
has been verified as being subscribed to this mailing list and also the
primary recipient of automated notices for the forms submission feature.
If your county archive web page does not link to the automated forms,
please do so when you have time.
http://www.genrecords.org/kyfiles/
Our first roll call after changing State FM responsibility took two weeks
to complete with only one FM not reporting back. The next roll call will
in March to give us a comparative basis. If any FM can not be contacted
for more than three weeks or so, the county will be moved to the adoption
roster until we can find the missing FM.
***NOTE: The current kygwarch password will remain in effect until further
notice. Any password changes will be posted on this mail list when
necessary. FMs not able to access the FTP server will need to contact the
State FM (SFM) or Assistant State FM (AFM) directly and provide details as
to the problem.
Please review your county archive web site and ensure your name and email
address is linked as the primary contact. Also check any sub-pages with
secondary tables as there are many that have wrong links and names posted.
IMPORTANT:
I will be activating the KYARCHIVES-L mail list to use for training and FM
support. This will relieve our admin mail list of any extra inbox filler
messages. Not all FMs will need to subscribe, but new FMs are encouraged
to follow the discussions to help learn and raise skill levels. If you
are interested, please send me a note to place your email address on that
list. Topics are open for problem solving, training and general
discussions about TOCs or archive file management. If you have any
questions regarding "How To", the KYARCHIVE-L mail list is the right place
to ask the technician. New FMs are strongly encouraged to take advantage
of the available training.
In the next few days, I will be sending messages relative to our current
status and daily business. Administrative issues will be addressed on
this list for KYARCH and FMs.
Be Well and have a great day.
Tom Hembrey
State FM, KYARCH
