To All FMs
The USGW Archives Tombstone Project (TP) is tied directly to each state archive directory
and actually uses our county archive folders. Here's what that means to the FM for
KyArchives...
Each state has a TP (Tombstone Project) file manager. This person (KY-Sherri Bradley)
uses the KyArchive directory to manage the TP contributions to the project. In some
cases, a county may need an extra web page to publish the contribution for a specific
cemetery. The TP might need to create a web page for the FM and notify the FM it has been
uploaded to the county folder. The FM will then have a web page that can be linked or
added to their KYARCH resources and TOC. The point being, the TP file manager will work
with the FM directly since the TP is the same resource for each county.
NOTE: The TP web pages are not restricted to ONLY linking to archival files in the
archive folders like we are in the KyArchives. It is a special project of the USGW
Archives. The advantage is huge in this respect for our researchers and visitors.
At this point in time, there are some counties that already have this incorporation in
hand because it is not new to our project level. In the future, other FMs may see this
happen as the TP grows in size. The important fact to remember is the files are stored in
the same place from both avenues of contributions, which eliminates duplicated work and
files. We have at least four possibilities to collect info from the public:
1) Direct email to the FM
2) Automated form submissions
3) Tombstone Project contributions
4) KYGW Project
How we manage the workload is up to us as the KyArchive file managers. Please note that
any web pages created for links in the TP in a county are managed by the FM and not the TP
file manager. The page will probably resemble a generic TOC like we already use and can
be revised or edited at any time as necessary. As long as we have the resource info
published, we have completed our task.
Sherri and I will help answer any questions this may bring to light. It certainly is nice
to know we have more help out there <grin>.

REF: Statement from the TP web site...
"We are compiling the data and forwarding the files for deposit in The USGenWeb
Project Archives for the appropriate state. You can certainly donate this data yourself
directly to the Archives file manager for the state. Either way is fine, since our goal is
to get the transcriptions archived. Visit The USGenWeb Project Archives page for more
information about submitting files to each state Archives File Manager."
