With Maureen's help, we want to help you get to know the
the Archives better. I am not an expert as I said before.
Just answering a few questions for you as I find the answers!
The Archives Table of Contents( tocs) do not duplicate or try
to compete with the county webpages.
They are there to serve as a description of the files in
the USGenWeb Archives. If there is not a link on a
particular county Archives toc to a county webpage,
then the cc can request the link be added. Just ask!

Since rootsweb limits contributions to text files,
everything available to the researcher cannot be in one place.

The USGenWeb Archives files are in ascii text format for a reason. As
computer technology changes, files in other formats might have to be
reworked, while ascii text is basic and will work in any computer
format.
