I have been lucky to find quite a bit of information on my Irish
families from the Belfast newspaper. They were quite well known in
Belfast. But it's sometimes surprising who is mentioned in the paper. My
relative in Derby was mentioned for driving the milk wagon too fast to
the station to get his milk on the train to London.
You were lucky to get this from a newspaper. You wouldn't see
much if the fellow didn't have esq after his name. My experience is
that at least in the olden days no ordinary Irishman would have his
obituary in a newspaper. I couldn't even find my great aunt's death
notice in the Longford paper in the early 1950's.
