If the data in the IGI is extracted, then it is from a primary source which
had been microfilmed. If the data was submitted by somebody then it was a
person like you or me who could have errors or unsubstantiated data in our file.

I'm been checking through the online IGI at the LDS Familysearch site the
last couple of years, maybe 4 times a year. In the beginning, I couldn't
find any
of my Clarkes. A couple of years ago, 2 of the brothers showed up, in
Killashee. This week, one of their sisters was there. Always helps to go
back and
check where you've already been. It takes time to get new files on any web
page,
so it's always possible something new will be there.

I added a new letter in the Letters from Home area today. This one is actually a letter
from the new home. It was written in 1903 by John Eustace of Janesville, Wisconsin to
Thomas Eustace of Townland Collum, Newtowncashel Parish. The letter was contributed by Ron
Eustice.
You can find the Letters Home section under Miscellaneous on the main menu.

If you have an old letter we would be glad to add it.

I have an Agnes Donohoe from Creevy, County Donegal, who married a Matthew
McCabe of Longford County, and they lived in Aghnagarron, Parish of
Abbeylara, County Longford. I would guess their birthdates as 1820-1830,
based on the ages of their children.

Has anyone come across the Adams surname in their research of Longford.
I find a Joanne Adams who married Patrick Murray in Longford on the Longford
website. My gggf Thomas Murray was born in Longford and came to Brooklyn,
NY then to Ottawa, Illinois USA. Later I find Patrick and "Nancy" Murray
living with his sister. So I'm guessing Patrick to be a father or at least
an Uncle based on the ages.
So in researching Adams on the website I find a George Adams and the
interesting fact he is 6 ft. 2 inches tall. Thomas Murray's son, John (my
ggf) was over 6 ft tall (now how's this for reaching?) Since the rest of
the Murray bunch were of typical Irish height sure makes me wonder if this
isn't the right family.
So now you've heard my tale, any takers? lol
Margaret
Dear Nancy
Thank you very much for the suggestion on the LDS files. Although I looked
at them a while ago, I think I need to do so again with a keener eye!
I appreciate your offer of helping with translation, and if, indeed, they
are all still in Latin, then I will need the help. <my latin is more than a bit
rusty!>

It may be easier to get the applicable record from the relevant LDS film.
If the hard copies of the records in question exist, they were almost surely
microfilmed by an LDS team, since the Bishop of Ardagh--in whose diocese
Colmcille is located--has been most accommodating in this regard. Family history
centers will photograph the image for you for a small fee, or you can do it
yourself, possibly more satisfactorily, with a digital camera. If you need
help with translation I would be glad to do it for you.

Thanks very much for the information!
I will have to see if I can get someone in Longford to go to St Colmcille
for me.
Although I have hopes of visiting within the next year, I admit being
anxious to get the information.
I am a bit confused about Seamus Reilly. The only Reillys I know that are
related to mine in Smear are Eugene and Owen. But you say Seamus is Owen's
son?
I believe there is a Eugene with wife Mary currently living in Smear - and
that Eugene is a jr.
As to the Kiernans..I do hope to gather info there as well.
I will try to contact Fr. Reilly or someone who can go the parish, as well
as look more closely at the LDS files.
I appreciate your information! I will send along whatever I find.

Hello Listers
Seeking information on family of Charles <or Owen> Reilly of Smear,
Aughnacliffe. His children were Charles b 1883, Owen, Eugene, John b 1873 and
Margaret.
Charles and John emigrated to US. Owen and Eugene remained. No info at all
on Margaret
I know that Owen and Eugene had family that remain to this day in Smear, but
need info on births/marriage/deaths
Also need info on the mother, Ellen or Eleanor Kiernan of Dunbeggan. I
believe she married Charles Reilly in 1860
Any help would be most appreciated!!!
