Maureen,
Nothing has changed at all. You never could send attachments to the
Rootsweb lists. I am not sure if that is what you mean. I think the Digest
version is a bit harder, because you have to remember to clean the digest
up.

Christina

Hi,
L find this format more difficult than the old and more combersome. Am I
the only one?
Thanks,
Maureen

One of our listers recommended a new book, In the Province of Saints. I thought
I would pass it on to the list. I have not read it.

Subject: Tithe Applotment Years (Street)
Saljem:
The Tithe Applotment Survey for the civil parish of Street was completed in
June 1826.
Tithe payers in Street and the 26 other civil parishes of Longford are
indexed in my recently published "County Longford Residents Prior to the
Famine: A Transcription and Complete Index of the Tithe Applotment Books of
County Longford, Ireland (1823 - 1835)." Also included is a transcription
of the records by townland, offering a "snapshot" of whole neighborhoods.
Unique maps of the over 900 townlands of Longford, indexed and organized by
civil parish, facilitate investigation of the inhabitants of townlands
adjacent to Street. Placenames are indexed and cross-referenced with those
used in Griffith's Valuation, including many names that have fallen out of
use over the centuries. Scale of the maps is 1" per mile. Less detailed
maps of Longford's baronies, civil parishes and poor law unions are also
included for general reference. This work is available in hardcover print,
CD-ROM, and digital download editions at www.domeshadowpress.com
Hope this helps!

As we think of the holidays - we think of traditional foods. If anyone would like to
contribute a recipe that was made in your family, let me know. You can post it here. (This
is a quiet time on the lists.)
If you like, name it after the ancestor who made it. I think that makes for a nice
remembrance.
They will go on the Irish Recipes page.

I have updated the Ireland books section of my website. New books have
been added in all sections: Parish History, Local History, Genealogy,
History, Fiction. New volunteers have also been added to do lookups in
the books. You can find the links by going to the URL below my name.
At the top of my homepage, under Ireland, click on Ireland Books. That
will take you to the Ireland Books Discussion Mailing List website. At
the bottom of that page, you will find links to both the Parish History
Books and to the Ireland Book List.
If you would like to add books to this website, just use the convenient
forms at the bottom of all the book pages. If you would like to
volunteer to do lookups, just email me off list. If your email address
has changed and you are a lookup volunteer, please write me off list,
giving the the book category and title.

If you are seeking the names of RC parishes throughout Ireland, and contact info as well, check out this website:
http://www.catholicireland.net/parishes/index.php
The purpose of the site is to give the mass schedule for each parish, but, for sleuthing genealogists ... there are other goodies to be gleaned.
You may be lucky to find that there's a phone number, the mailing address, an email address, a fax number, and maybe even a website for your parish.
Thanks to Pete Schermerhorn, in the glorious Berkshire hills of western Massachusetts, for bringing this site to my attention.
Best of good luck in your searches!
