I'm looking for connections to my Crown/e family who lived in
Stranorlar, my gr grandfather was William Crown born about 1858 and died 1932, he was
brought up in Creggan, Donegal. His father was James but I don't know his
mother's name as I haven't found a birth record for William. William had a
brother in Convoy called John whose surname was known as Crowner, There were also Crowns
in Leitrim and Limavady. William was married to Sarah Doherty in 1882, Sarah died in 1893
in childbirth. Sarah's father was James, on her marriage certificate Sarah's
residence was Creggan. I would love to find which Doherty family Sarah belonged to. I
also have connections to two other Doherty families in Stranorlar and Letterkenny.
My Quigley family are from Donegal and Derry. My gr, grandfather was Patrick Quigley
born about 1860 who gives his father's name as Robert, (wife not known) on his
marriage certificate to Sarah Deaney . Gr grandfather, Patrick had a sister Ellen who
married John Barr from Bogslea, Derry. My grandfather also Patrick , was born in 1888,
grandfather Patrick had a brother James, sister Agnes who married a Ryan and another
sister who married an O'hagan who I have been told was an american ambassador for
Derry. Sarah Deeney gives her father's name as James Deaney and her mother's name
as Ann M cDade. I haven't yet found any Deaney or McDade connections nor have I been
able to establish which Robert Quigley is my gr gr grandfather.
Other names connected to my family are Barr, Hume, Doherty, Houston. My dad came to
England just before 1950 with two Downy brothers and another man named McClure.
