REV. C. W. WADE DIES SUDDENLY
The many friends of the Rev. C. W. Wade, who for the past two years has been pastor of the
Free Methodist church of this city were shocked early Friday moring to learn that he had
died without warning at 2:00 o'clock that morning.
Retiring early in the evening in apparent good health at 11:00 o'clock his wife
noticed he was unusually restless. Upon being questioned he complained of a pain in his
head. Half an hour later he became unconscious, dying at 2:00 o'clock in the
morning.
The deceased for several years had been presiding elder of the Belvedere,
Evansville-Platteville district of the Free Methodist church, coming to this city from
Belvedere.
Rev. Wade was 63 years of age at the time of his death having been preaching for the space
of 45 years, beginning when he was 18 years of age.
He was born and raised at Columbia City, Ind., where for many years he made his home and
where his relatives and one daughter now reside.
Saturday morning a short service was held at the home, followed immediately by the body
being shipped to his old home at Columbia City for the burial, accompanied by his wife and
two daughters who had come from Indiana at the summons of his death. There more elaborate
funeral services were held and the body laid to rest in the cemetery of his old home
town.
Rev. Wade was loved, honored and respected by all who knew him and the community and the
church which he served so long will greatly miss his companionship and services.
