At present my hand copied records on the 1920 census are still packed
away in a box (from moving) but from my Memory America's name may have
been entered by the census taker as "Merica" for this census rather than
America. Mary was the name she was addressed by but America was always
used within the family. America was born 1860 at home in Whitley Co.
I had copied the 1920 Census and then contibuted the microfilms to the
Whitley County Historical Museum. A portrait of her father William Van
