o In an antique mall I saw two tintype photos that are
accompanied by pieces of paper with handwritten information
about the people in the pictures. The first picture is in a
case, including glass, a brass mat, and preserver. It is a photo
of a middle aged to elderly couple. The piece of paper says that
they are Solomon PROPAT (possibly PROFIST) and his wife Susan.
The note says that Susan is "Mother's oldest sister." It goes on
to say "Taken in 1863, aged about 59 years. Died at the age of
63. In Indiana, Columbia." This may be Columbia City, Indiana,
about 20 miles northwest of Fort Wayne. There is also a small
village named Columbia in Indiana in Fayette County, east of
Indianapolis. The second photo also has a brass mat and
preserver, and is covered with glass. There is no case. It is a
picture of a young woman. The note with this one says "My
youngest sister, M. Virginia PROPAT at age 17. Was married a
year later to Chester H. WARREN and died six years later at the
age of 24 years, Columbia." The dealer at the antique mall is
asking $45 for the first picture and $40 for the second. They
both appear to be in good condition. Interested parties can
contact me, and I will tell you how to contact the antique mall.
