I am seeking info on the following family from Whitley Co., 1860 Census
Henry Richards, 45, b. Ohio
Catherine, 35, b. Maryland
Daniel, 20, b. Maryland
Clarrissa, 18, b. Ohio
Ann E., 16, b. Ohio
John, 13, b. Ohio
Henry, 12, b. Ohio
Mafsilon, 10, b. Ohio
Sylvester W., 7, b. Indiana
Oliver, 2, b. Indiana
John, 7, b. Indiana
My interest is the son named ?Mafsilon ? Anybody know what that name
spelling should be? It looks like some sort of misspelling, but I can't
figure out what it should have been.
Thanks.

It looks to me like the names for the Richards family are spelled this
way
Henry
Catharine
Daniel
Clarissa
Ann E.
John
Henry Jr
Massilon
Sylvester W
Olive
John
Those things that look like an f...are the first of a double s...an old
fashioned way of writing it.
The name Massillon is not uncommon in Ohio. There is a town by that name
in the eastern part of Ohio, near Canton...and a street of that name in
Findlay which is in western Ohio.
